PhD from 2003, he has been an adjunct professor in Building Conservation from 2013 to 2017. Now he teaches Building Construction.

He is in editorial board of many international reviews like “Journal of Building Pathology and Rehabilitation”, edited by Springer. From 2014 to nowadays he belongs to the scientific committee of REHABEND International Congress, of which he has been chairman. He is also technical coordinator of scientific laboratories of the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

He has carried out a research period in Escuela Techniqua Superior de Architectura, Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). His scientific activity is essentially divided in three thematic areas: conservation of Sicilian built heritage, no descriptive protocol aimed at diagnosis of building pathology, history of construction.
